Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) is a nationally ranked academic medical center hospital located in downtown Chicago, Illinois.

It is the primary teaching hospital for Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. Along with its Prentice Women’s Hospital and Stone Institute of Psychiatry, the hospital provides a total of 894 inpatient beds and encompasses more than 3 million square feet of medical building space.

Prior command center/dispatch operational experience preferred.

At least 3 years of security experience.

Must have an excellent appearance and attitude (pride in your uniform and job is essential).

Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Must have an excellent attendance and job performance record.

Must be a motivated, self-starter with the willingness and ability to function with limited supervision.

Must be able to multi-task in a service oriented environment.

Must be flexible with scheduling and be able to hold over to the next shift or work extra hours as needed.

Must be customer-service oriented, organized, responsible and professional.

Must be computer literate.

Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Email or the ability to learn.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office & Word or the ability to learn.

Must be able to pass drug screening

Must be able to pass background check

General Job Duties:

Attend roll calls to review any communication from building and/or security management.

Monitor signals from consoles and/or visual displays associated with building emergency systems.

Communicate and coordinate with internal and external resources all problems, issues and concerns identified by signals from consoles.

Maintain, track and issue security equipment and supplies
Coordinate communications and dispatch for building emergency response, including engineering, building management, security operations and 911 Public Assistance.

Function as the communications hub for routine security operations and services.

Monitor building system panels for alarms (elevator, fire panel, medical gas, etc.)

Function as the notification lead to request remedial actions in all significant maintenance issues reported to security, to solicit public assistance response to emergency situations and to advise key personnel after emergencies have stabilized, and to communicate with external life-safety equipment monitoring vendors for equipment testing purposes.

Initiate internal and external notification protocols, including outside alarm companies, repair vendors, and building management.

Monitor security camera visual displays for suspicious circumstances and trouble situations.

Be capable of evaluating, investigating and reporting all types of security and law enforcement incidents. Complete incident reports as necessary.

Possess local and regional geographical knowledge in order to assist customers.

Perform other duties not listed and are assigned.
