Group Facilitator (Mental Health Counselor) - Part Time

The Group Facilitator facilitates both psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) and Community Support Groups, documenting services provided according to Rule 132 and utilizing evidence based curriculum. The Group Facilitator ensures a mutually supportive atmosphere among consumers and the CMHC Team that promotes the provision of quality, consumer driven group services.

Other responsibilities include communication with the CMHC Team regarding consumer progress as well as maintaining current knowledge of Rule 132 and public payer regulations.

As with all Community Mental Health and Counseling staff, this position is also responsible for promoting a recovery oriented environment that reflects the needs of the individuals served, the staff providing services, and the mission of the organization. In addition, this position fulfills needed functions on the team.

Job Qualifications:
Master's Degree in a Human Services related field with 1,000 hours of supervised experience in mental health.

Knowledge and experience with the documentation and billing process for Medicaid community mental health services (Rule 132) preferred.

Valid Illinois driver's license and documentation of current auto insurance, with a good driving record and car available.

Working knowledge of evidence based psychosocial treatments for serious and persistent mental illness with one year of effective group facilitation practice preferred.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to effectively engage consumers in a therapeutic relationship.

A ble to work independently, with minimal direction and oversight.

Must be a self-starter and a problem solver with the ability to take initiative.

Proficiency in the use of computers and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook applications, with good typing skills.

Must be willing to work evenings/weekends, if necessary.
Position Responsibilities

Facilitate group services, both on-site and off-site, to clients in accordance to their treatment plans and complete all required documentation according to Sertoma Policy, Rule 132, and accreditation bodies.

Bill for group services provided in accordance with Rule 132 within the specified deadlines.

Assist the Billing/Client Account Coordinator in the implementation and development of the group schedule and ensure that group services are evidenced based and clinically appropriate.

Communicate with Clinical Team in order to implement specific clinical interventions specified by Service Coordinators and provide feedback regarding the results.

Assist the Billing/Consumer Account Coordinator and other team members in providing training for staff and interns on group dynamics and effective group instruction.

Assist CMHC Team Members in providing outreach to the community through education about mental health.

Based upon consumer input, assist in research, development, and implementation of curriculum including educational and advocacy activities and consumer facilitated activities, in collaboration with Billing/Client Account Coordinator and CMHC staff.

Promote awareness of mental health, both internally and externally.

Maintain open and effective communication with agency and provider staff, family, and others in response to consumer needs, service needs, and provide input on recommended services or adaptive devices.

Function as an advocate ensuring protection of an individual’s rights while providing a training element to empower persons with disabilities to understand and protect those rights.

Performs other duties, as assigned.
